Winona

The name Winona means 'firstborn daughter'. This can mean one who is actually the first daughter born in a family or, as in this instance, the first female born with a gift or ability from the Lord which is of a specific type that is new, of its kind, or in its way or origin. There are no "new" gifts of the Spirit, just the ones named in the Bible. But when we are born again, behold, all things are new! It is in this manner in which we speak of Winona's gift being new. Consequently, when Winona is born again she, and everything about her spirit man, becomes new.

Winona, whether she be the first daughter of many or the only one, is still the first daughter born with this particular gift at this time and place in history. Only as Winona gives herself over to the Lord Jesus Christ and learns of Him, His Word and His Ways will she be able to discern what this gift is that He has given her. Then she will be able to bear and multiply God's Word and other daughters and sons of the Lord as well.

She may go through her entire life wondering just what this gift is that the Lord has given her. On the other hand, she might just walk in it naturally, going around dropping one seed after another, leaving a trail of new souls being born into the Kingdom behind her. Whichever it is, Winona will live a life of one who doesn't take things for granted, especially anything that has to do with God or His Word. Like Esther she eventually comes to the conclusion that she was born for such a time as this.

Proverbs 31:30   Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
