Tanner

The name Tanner means ‘a maker of leather’.  Leather is made of the skin of an animal that might otherwise be discarded and counted as useless. In truth, that is what we all are, something useless unless transformed by the power of God.  Tanner, once he has given his heart over to the Lord, becomes not only useful to God but learns to helps others to do the same.

Tanner sees God in everything around him. There is no one and no situation that cannot be redeemed and even made valuable if only turned over to God. There are people Whom God sends into Tanners’ life that others may find unpleasant to be around because of their lifestyle, dress or manner of speaking.  Tanner seems to see through the outward appearance and into their hearts.

This is how God sees these same people and He has given Tanner His heart in this manner also.  There are just some people in this world that are considered unfit and it is to these that that Tanner is called.  And it is this calling that gives purpose to Tanner’s life.

Gal 4:5 . . .  redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
