Talitha

The name Talitha means ‘damsel, maiden’. When God wrote Talitha’s name in His Book of Life He saw her as fully-grown woman walking in all the gifts and callings He had planned for her from the very beginning. As soon as Talitha gives her heart to Jesus she walks into that womanhood into which He has called her. She will always be His little girl; precious in His sight just as an earthly daughter can be her daddy’s little girl even if she is fifty years old.

When Jesus was among us here on Earth it was the children He seemed to love the most. He always took time for them and used them as examples as how we are to be in our trust in Him. Talitha is a trusting sort, wide eyed, believing what she is told. Because of this she gets hurt sometimes. Only because of her trust in God does she keep on trusting in others.

There are those who may consider her to be just a little gullible. She may be naive, but isn’t that how the Lord said He would have us be? To be like Him, gentle, mild, long-suffering, patient, forgiving. This is not to make Talitha out to be some kind of saint. Some people are just more peaceable and trusting than others and so is Talitha.

Psa 118:8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
