SHAKOTA

The name Shakota means ‘power’. Power can mean strength, force, great influence or energy. It would be seemingly appropriate for a person who has a name which has this meaning to be someone who exhibits these qualities in her life. Maybe she does and maybe these qualities are manifested in her spirit. There is an old expression that says ‘Still waters run deep’. This may be true of Shakota but then turbulent winds and rivers make themselves known also. Either way, only if she allows the Lord Jesus Christ to be the Force in her life will she ever be or do the things for which she strives.

Usually when the word ‘power’ is thought of the images of a big and mighty person or machine comes to mind and doing great and mighty things. But that is looking at the word through a worldly-minded way not through the eyes of God or His Word. Therefore looking at Shakota’s name and its meaning through the blood of Jesus the word ‘power’ takes on a somewhat different meaning. Many people have done many things, even amazing things. No one can say that great and mighty things cannot be done without God because they can. There have been numerous people who have set out to prove that they did not need God in order to accomplish things.  This thought brings another scripture to mind, ‘Psa. 115:4 Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.’ These things which they have done will perish with them whereas whatever Shakota manages to get done will be talked about not only here on Earth but in the halls of heaven besides.

With God anything can be done. The scripture which I chose for this name says that we have been given the spirit of love, power and a sound mind. The power spoken of in this scripture is a Greek word which is the origin of the word dynamite. Another old saying, “Dynamite comes in a small package but it makes a big explosion.” This may be true of Shakota and again it may be in her natural life as well as in her spirit. She will be able to make an explosion in her world for the sake of the Gospel, but only if she allows the Lord Jesus Christ to be the Force of her power.

Whether this power is manifested in her physical or spirit she will make a great impact in the lives of others. Because of this meaning of her name the Lord has no intention of her being a spiritual ‘wall flower’ so to speak. She will most likely be a ‘leading lady’ whether it is on the dance floor of life or in the secret place with the Most High while in her prayer closet. It is in the closet where her battles are fought and won.
