Jesus said that He was the vine and that we were the branches. The vine spoken of here is the Tree of Life and has many, many branches, each grafted in if not already a native branch. As we all are, Phyllis is one of these branches. When Phyllis allows the Blood of the Lamb to flow through her she will bear fruit. The most important function of a branch is to bear fruit. Phyllis only has to keep her mind stayed on Him, trust in Him and do as He asks her to in order to bear the desired fruit. This fruit is what others will see and desire to have of their own. And when they do, they get grafted in, just as Phyllis did, and become branches in their own right. Phyllis, because she does abide in the Lord, stays green and fresh. She doesn't turn bitter and hard hearted. She is full of life and is energetic, and just happy in the Lord. It is a pleasure to be around her and to know her as a person. John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing
