Peggy

The name Peggy means ‘a pearl’. A pearl is a jewel which comes in a variety of sizes and value. They have been long admired and coveted for their beauty. In God’s Word a particularly beautiful pearl was compared to the Kingdom of Heaven. And last but not least, a pearl is a symbol of wisdom. Often times a good person is said to be a ‘gem’ of a person which means that he/she is good, kind, helpful, etc. Peggy is all that and more but the meaning of her name has more to do with her inner man which she lives before God.

In the natural Peggy may or not be seen as a beautiful woman. However, as the saying goes, beauty is only skin deep. Also, Peggy may be a wise person having acquired a certain amount of wisdom obtained by her life experiences. And again, this is usually superficial at best. The beauty and wisdom that Peggy needs and seeks after comes from her time spent with God, in His Word and before His Throne. When she has given her heart and soul to the Lord then Peggy can grow in this beauty and wisdom as the Scriptures define them.

Oftentimes the word beauty in the Bible has little or nothing to do with a person’s good looks. More than likely it has more to do with their ability to do great things or be of great character that shines out or is admired by people around them. Two women of the Bible come to mind; Deborah and Ruth. The name Deborah means ‘bee’ and Ruth means ‘friend’, neither had anything said about their beauty but rather more was said about their wisdom, courage and diligence. Both women have names that are quickly recognized as being the names of Biblical women who are known through the ages as women who did great things.

The God kind of wisdom being produced in Peggy does not come quickly or easily. It comes through much time and prayer and also through the bumps and lumps that normally come with life. All people suffer hardships of some nature but not all people learn from them. God allows many and varied tests and trials to come into Peggy’s life.  Not just to teach her a lesson, on the contrary: it is so that she can become skilled at coping with them thereby causing her to learn to trust in and upon Him. Peggy could allow herself to become bitter because of these life lessons like so many people do. Instead she endeavors to show just how good her God is by the life she lives with Him.

Pro 3:13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
