Michael

     The name Michael means 'who is like God'.  This is a description that would scarcely describe any one of us.  Who can claim to be like God?  In a sense we all can, for the Scriptures say that we were all made in the image and likeness of God.

    So, how is Michael like God?  Is he good and perfect in all his ways?  Of course not.  But, like God, Michael is one of a kind.  There has never been one just like him nor will there ever be another quite like him.  He is unique.  In what way is Michael unique?  On the surface he seems to be as ordinary as the guy next door, doing the same thing the same way every day of his life. Going his way doing nothing spectacular in any way an any time.

    Isn't that how most of us see God?  He causes the sun to rise day after day.  Our hearts to beat continuously hour after hour.  One day comes after the next, on and on for years.  And we all take this for granted, just as the air we breathe.     This is the way Michael lives his life.  Usually doing nothing that seems to be extraordinary.  But who know what is going on in the inward man when Michael gets alone with God?  Mighty things can happen in the prayer closet.     Maybe Michael doesn't look or seem like God to the naked eye, in the physical realm.  That's OK.  God doesn't either.
