Mark
The name Mark means ‘defender or
warrior’. This meaning
causes him to have a warrior spirit by nature. God’s Word says that He
teaches a mans’ hands to war, so in and of itself to have a warrior’s
nature is not a bad thing. Nonetheless, without God and His Holy Spirit,
Mark is just one more man looking for a fight. Once he has been born
again, however, he learns that to be truly successful on the battlefield
he first has to be successful in the prayer closet.
Many people may find Mark to be a peaceable type of guy.
This is because his walk with the Lord has taught him which battles
to fight and those from which he should just walk away. It would be all too easy to give over to the urge to speak
his mind and set thing straight, in his own way. Nevertheless as he walks
with the Lord he learns other, better ways.
He has been
sent to ‘fight the good fight’ and he takes this mission seriously. There is an adversary whom Mark has to face and this
adversary has a mission of his own also. It is to thwart him and every
Christian in every way he can. While in the presence of the Most High God
Mark is endued with the power he needs to be able to overcome the enemy,
and he does.
2
Timothy 2:4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of
this life; that he may please Him Who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
