The name Lily simply means "lily" which comes from the name of the flower. Lilies have always been viewed as symbols of purity. Also, the name Lilly means ‘the eye of the morning’, another way of saying the dawn. The dawn can be viewed as a kind of purity as the dawn is the beginning of a new day in which nothing, good or bad has taken place as yet. It is still ‘pure’ in this sense.

Now the word ‘pure’ needs to be defined. To be pure usually means to be without sin or vice of any kind. The word pure nearly always invokes thoughts of wholesomeness, righteousness, goodness or anything that is clean, new or unsullied in any manner. But is there anyone other than Jesus that can live up to such a name? If we only look at what a person does or how he acts, of course not. So how does one live up to the name of being pure? This is done in the spiritual realm of ones life which then would manifest itself in the physical and natural every-day life. And this can only be done by and through the power of the Lord Jesus Christ and the working of His Holy Spirit.

As Lilly gives her all to the Lord and allows His Holy Spirit to live within her, grow in her and desire Him to change her into the likeness of Jesus she reflects the attribute of purity. People who know her intimately see her resoluteness to go and do the things she feels the Lord is leading her to do. She is not easily swayed; she is almost stubborn in her resoluteness to make sure she doesn’t waver.

Lily sins and does things which she sorely regrets; she is human after all. She is not a goody-goody kind of person either. She knows her faults and strives to overcome them. Her heart is pure in that her hearts desire is to serve and to be like Jesus in all her ways. Other than that, Lilly is just like any other woman of God who does her best to live the Christian life.

1Jo 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
