Keisha
The name Keisha means 'cassia'. Cassia is a type
of tree of the Laurel family. The inner rind when dried and rolled into
cylinders forms the cinnamon we know and use today as a spice in cooking.
The fruit and coarser pieces of bark when
boiled yield a fragrant oil. This oil
was one of the principal ingredients in the holy anointing oil talked
of in the Bible. Keisha then, or her life lived as unto the Lord is used as
an sweet fragrant spice and an anointing oil for God.
Anointing oil was used by priests to sanctify
and consecrate people, places and things. After being anointed these people,
places and things were to be honored and treated as sacred. Keisha is holy
and sanctified because of the blood of Jesus and not because of what she
does or says. She causes God's anointing to fall upon people by her
intercession on their behalf.
Keisha adds a certain kind of fragrance to the
lives of the people around her. She makes what might be an otherwise dull
and boring time become something special and invigorating. This comes from
her relationship with her Savior, not a mere religion. He makes her life
worth living and this is what she imparts to others.
Acts 2:18 And on My servants and on My handmaidens I will pour out in
those days of My Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
