While pure surely means with out sin or fault it does have other meanings also: free from corrupt desire, every admixture of what is false, sincere, genuine, and lastly, singleness of heart. This last definition is the true interpretation of Karen's name. No one can remain pure in the truest sense of the word. But we are all called to strive to keep our selves pure from the stain of the sins of this world in which we live. And so is Karen. Karen is one who follows the dictates of her heart. She listens to others. She seriously considers what is said to her. However Karen has to listen to her inner self. The old saying; "To thine own self be true" is true of her. This may make her seem to disregard what others tell her, maybe even a little stubborn, but not so. Karen is just true to her heart and her convictions. She
is moved by compassion, logic and public opinion like anyone else. But in
the end, Karen does just exactly what she believes in her heart, for her, to
be the right thing to do. She follows the direction of the Holy Spirit,
doing her best to not let human reasoning blur the truth the Lord shows her.
And in so doing Karen will remain true to the calling on her life. 1 Peter 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth, through the Spirit unto infeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart, fervently. © Helen Elliott 2001
