Judy

The name Judy, (Also the names Judi, Judie, Judith, Judah, Judas, Jude, Judit, Judita, Judite, Judyta, Jyttie, Hillel, Telila, Thana and Zimri and others may be added) means 'praise’.

In the dictionary study of the word praise it is found that this word comes from Latin and means the price or value given to an object or person, particularly, God.      The Biblical dictionary has these definitions of the word praise:

Towdah- confession, thanksgiving

Tĕhillah- song or hymn of praise

Zamar- to sing, sing praise, make music

Halal- to shine (fig. of God's favour);

(Hiphil)  to praise, boast, be boastful

Yadah- to give thanks, laud, praise; to confess, confess (the name of God)

Praise also is an expression of admiration and appreciation.  When believers praise God, they are telling Him how they feel and think concerning Who and what He is. While we are all born to praise God it is Judy’s main purpose in life and she does this by the life she lives. However, it is the life she lives while in her prayer closet that determines the amount and kind of praise that is manifested in her day to day life.

Some people have a natural tendency to see the
brighter side of life. They are naturally cheerful and
optimistic and tend to walk on the sunny side of the
street.  This is how God created us all to be and He
takes great delight in us when we are like that. This
truly is the more accurate interpretation of Judy’s name.
On the other hand, for some people it is just
natural to gripe and complain so they have to learn to
overcome this tendency.  Judy just might be like that
herself, if so then her praise would be doubly sweet
to the Lord.
Nevertheless, it is not always easy for her to
sing a song of praise because life does get tough
sometimes. She finds herself in difficult situations
which are plain hard to deal with just like we all do.
And too, there are times when life seems too hard to
bear. It is through living through these difficult times,
turning to God and leaning upon Him that she learns to
trust Him, to learn that He will see her through, every time.

Whether one trust in God to see him through to the
end or not, the end does come. It is how one rides the
waves of the storm which determines if one sinks or swims.
As the Psalms so beautifully puts it:
40:2,3 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit,
out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock,
[and] established my goings. And he hath put a new
song in my mouth, [even] praise unto our God: many
shall see [it], and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
As she grows in her relationship with God Judy finds it
easier and easier to lift her voice to give thanks to her God
for the all great and small things in her life.

True and proper praise consists of a genuine and personal recognition of the value of having God as the sovereign ruler of ones’ life. Judy’s main task in life is to do this and by the doing of it she not only shows forth the praise of her God but others see it and thus God is glorified.

I will bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually
be in my mouth. Psalm 34:1
