John

(FIRST VERSION)

The name John means 'God's gracious gift'.  The word 'gift' here has to do with the spiritual gifts mentioned in the book of Galatians in the Bible.  It deals with the

abilities and talents the Lord gives this man. Once John has given her heart and soul to the Giver of Life, he then becomes a gift himself, sent into the world to be used as an instrument.  This is his true purpose and calling in life.

The Lord sends John into many places to do many different things for all sorts of people. John is one who is a 'jack of all trades' because he can do various things, and do them well.  Not just in the physical sense either, all though it can be applied that way.  Usually it means that if someone is needed to support and lift you up, in times of trouble or just in the day-to-day way of life, John 's there. He is that kind of man.

John is the man you call on when you need something done, done right, and right away. He is not a slacker.  John is a good 'right hand' especially when a hand is needed.  You can depend on him. John is a friend when a friend is needed.

Philippians 4:13  I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

JOHN

(SECOND VERSION)

[[ This is the new expanded version of the interpretation of the name John, Since I am no longer trying to sell the names on graphics I no longer have to constrain myself as to how much I can write. This way, if you are blessed and the Lord so moves on you to do so, you can make a donation. If not, then the Lord will provide as He says He will in His Word. At any rate I pray that you are blessed. Helen Elliott, helliott4@cox-net ]]

The name John means 'God's gracious gift'. The word gracious naturally comes from the word grace. The word gift, oddly to me, comes from the same source. This is the Greek word  'charisma {khar'-is-mah}'.  {"Dictionary and Word Search for 'charisma (Strong's 5486)' " . Blue Letter Bible. 1996-2002. 15 Mar 2007. Grace or gifts denoting extraordinary powers, distinguishing certain Christians and enabling them to serve the church of Christ, the reception of which is due to the power of divine grace operating on their souls by the Holy Spirit.} Here in the interpretation of the name, this discussion will deal with the abilities and talents the Lord gives him. Once John has given his heart and soul to the Giver of Life, he then becomes a gift himself, sent into the world to be used as an instrument.

Now concerning the gifts with which  John's spirit mans has been enabled. It needs to be understood that simply because his name has this particular interpretation does not mean that John automatically works and operates in all of these giftings and callings and at all times. No, he first has to submit his very being to God and allow God's Holy Spirit to envelope him in all ways and means. Then permit God's Holy Spirit to lead him into each and every area in which he can operate within a particular gift. John simply must yield himself to God and let Him pick and choose for him just when and where all this is to take place.

When John immerses himself in God's Word and Presence he learns little by little the things which the Lord requires of him.  Most of us tend to study on one or two gifts or areas of His Holy Spirit in which we feel God is calling us to operate. But John has so much more required of Him. Now he may never visibly  and openly operate in even one of these gifts. At least not where the ones around him will be able to see.( It is possible you know, maybe even likely in some cases) But then John has a very special and secret side of himself. He may be very active in this realm while on his knees in his prayer closet. In fact God might just require that John keep this side of himself concealed.

John may or not be a man who is bashful about how God uses him and is glad to operate and manifest these gifts at any time and at any place as the Lord leads. Or on the other hand may be reticent and has to have God really nudge him to move. In any case John is a man who comes to the aid of anyone who needs him. Whether it is openly or quietly behind the scenes, John works. Above all God has given John a gift of seeking His heart. When John does set out to seek God's heart and Face God in turn blesses John. In this respect John lives a blessed life.

God has put a Spirit within John to help people when and where he can. Indeed, most people find John to be at least useful when his help is needed. What he doesn't know how to do, he sets out to learn how or find the ways of means of getting it done. It seems as if he is driven to do as much as he can for everybody. This is a detriment to his family life at times and even his own personal life. He is so busy helping sometimes that even his Spiritual life suffers. This is when God has to pull John aside and talk with him.

John is a man of many talents and callings and is so needed and wanted by everybody and seemingly at all times. So long as he keeps his mind and heart set on God and what God wants John will be the gift for The Church which will fulfill God's purpose.
