which means ‘Jehovah is God’. In our modern times the name Jehovah just
means God. We use the two words/names interchangeably, and for the purpose
of this name’s interpretation that is fine. We need to understand why the
scripture, ”Deut. 6:4 Hear,
O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD“, is even in the Bible at all. The
Jewish people were being taught by God that He alone is God, there is none
other than Him nor is there another like unto Him: He is God, He is Jehovah.
We need to understand that when this was written many nations had many gods.
So, Yow’el’s life was a sort of proof of this fact.

The name Joel means ‘Jehovah is God’ which
means that he lives a life in which others can see proof that God exists.
How is this done? God uses Joel’s life as an instrument of his love and
grace. Joel, after he has given his heart to the Lord Jesus Christ, becomes
a testimony of what God’s love and grace can do in a persons’ life.
Joel may or not be one that is hell bent to live a life of sin and he
may be one that strives to live a godly life. In either case it still takes
God’s grace and mercy to change him into the man God has called him to be.
Once he does come to this place in his life Joel starts to exemplify
the characteristics of a man of God.
Does this mean that Joel lives a life without sin or any mistakes?
No. David of the Old Testament was a man after God’s own heart,
nevertheless he committed adultery, murder and because of his actions God
took the life of his son. And yet, David was a Godly man. Observing Joel’s
life, his struggles and victories we can see that by depending upon God and
His mercy we can all live over-coming
