Gary

The name Gary means ‘a spear’. A spear has been used for centuries as a symbol of war. It is a long pointed rod used as an offensive weapon. Gary would not be a spearman but a spear itself. A spear, besides the sword, is one of the major tools that God gives unto men to wage war against the enemy of His people. When a person is fighting in a war ordained by God, it is the same as if God Himself was holding the instrument used to wage the battle, be it sword, spear or whatever weapon. Gary after giving his heart and soul to the Lord becomes a weapon in God’s arsenal.

Gary doesn’t have to be a forceful and dynamic kind of person in order to be so in the spiritual world. What God sees and what we see is not always the same thing. A man once wrote that the pen is mightier than the sword. Meaning of course that what is written can do as much or more damage as what can be done with a physical weapon. God’s Word is a symbol of the Sword of the Spirit and it is used to do damage to the enemy and his works. God uses Gary to do just that. After Gary has been on his knees seeking God’s direction the enemy trembles. He knows that the scripture says in “Pro 27:17 Iron sharpeneth iron” and also that Gary loves to get together with others to pray, seek God’s face and study the Word. Doing so helps him and the others to be even more knowledgeable in the ways of God and His Word. This makes them better able to wage war.

To be of really good use, besides being sharpened, a spear needs to be oiled. This not only makes it shiny and presentable, it also takes off any rust or dirt that may have become encrusted on it, possible through disuse. The anointing of God’s Holy Spirit and His blessing is what makes Gary’s warfare so effective.

Deut. 32:41 If I (God) whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to mine enemies . . .
