George
The name George means ' a farmer'. A farmer is a person who tills the
land to raise crops or raises animals. Scripturally this would be one who
provides the food on which others need to live.
All work is needful. Some work outside in the sunshine and fresh air and
love it. There are others who must be
confined within four walls pushing pens or even others who drive a vehicle
of some kind with this being their cup of tea.
George, when he allows the Lord of the Harvest to till the soil of his
heart, becomes one who does a great work in the kingdom of God.
God has chosen George to be one who does the manual labor, so to speak,
for the rest of us. There are all kinds of gifts, callings and works of the
Lord. A farmer is one whose work is truly never
done although it looks as though it is done from sunrise to sunset. But a
good farmer is never finished. Even in the winter there are things that must
be done in preparation of spring. Of course there is time for resting, like
in the winter when snow covers the ground. But even that time is used for
planning for the next year. A good farmer is a busy man.
Most of us do not think much about who raised the cow that gives our
steak or the chickens from which come our eggs. We take it for granted that
when we go to the store we will be able to buy them, take them home and cook
them. This is how it is in the spiritual world also. There are some,
like George, who do the work of
the Lord that no one sees except other workers or the Lord Himself.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that
needeth not to be ashamed. . .
