The name Dirk means 'one
who rules'. Jesus, the Prince of Peace, is the One Who set the standards
by which we are to live and have dominion in all areas of our lives. When
Dirk gives his life to the Lord he then will be one to rule and have
authority in a variety of ways and means. God has chosen Dirk to do this
in his own life that others may follow his example.
First it must be established as to what a ruler
actually is. He can be a king, a president of a country or business, or
just the head of his own home. At any rate he is one who makes decisions,
not only in his own life but in others as well. He does this by making
choices, some right and some not so good, and then influencing others to
do the same. Dirk may or may not be consciously trying to get others to
follow his example, it just happens. But then Dirk has to do this; God has
called him to do so.
When he follows the leading of the Lord Dirk
seems to have the favor of the Lord on most anything he chooses to do.
Those around him tend to do what he does, like he does and when he does
it. When he is right with God, he is right and seemingly can do no wrong.
However, when he gets hard headed and does what he believes to be the
right thing he soon learns just how wrong he can be.
When he discovers that
others follow his leading in these directions which aren't so pleasing to
the Lord Dirk is saddened and dejected. It is by learning the hard way so
many times that he finds it is so much easier to simply ask God and follow
Him and His bidding. This is what he would most like to have those who
choose to follow him to do as well. Like Paul says in the Scriptures '...be followers together. . . of me,

the diligent shall bear rule:
